Cellulite is one of the major nuisances that mainly affect women. More than 80% of women of all ages have some degree of cellulite.
The process initiates with the enlargement of naturally occurring fat cells that are located in the deeper areas of the skin. The gradual enlargement of these cells will compromise the circulatory system and hinder the regional inflow of the nutrients and the outflow of the waste products. This will cause a gradual stiffening, contraction, and shortening of the surrounding connective tissue, resulting in tight fibrous bands (septae) and the entrapment of the enlarged fat cells and the inward pull of the over laying skin. The eventual outcome will be the creation of a rough, uneven, dimpled, and cottage cheese appearance in the areas of thigh, buttocks, stomach and arms.
Over the last decades, many different diets, exercises and treatment modalities have been used for the treatment of cellulite. By not addressing the main causes of cellulite, most of these measures have demonstrated poor results in treatment of cellulite. Acoustic Wave Treatment (AWT) is the latest invention that has revolutionized the medical approach to treatment of cellulite. This advanced state-of-the-art treatment, performed by using a high-tech equipment called D-Actor, has proven its efficacy in a large number of patients. Furthermore, clinical and medical ultrasound studies have confirmed the therapeutic effects of AWT and the resultant dermal thickening after
D-actor is a mechanical device and does not use any chemicals, injections or lasers. By generating acoustic pressure waves, Acoustic Wave Therapy addresses all the components responsible for the generation of cellulite. ·Acoustic Wave Therapy improves the flexibility of the connective tissue. ·Acoustic Wave Therapy breaks up the fibrous bands and releases the attached skin. ·Acoustic Wave Therapy accentuates regeneration of additional blood vessels and enhances the inflow of the nutrients and outflow of waste material. ·Acoustic Wave Therapy initiates the release of healing mediators, enhances fibroblastic activity, and reproduction of new and pliable collagen.
As a result of these therapeutic effects, Acoustic Wave Therapy results in a visible firming of the treated areas’ skin and smoothing its’ appearance. Additionally it improves the skin’s texture and elasticity. Acoustic Wave Therapy is most effective in the areas that are most prone to dimpled skin, such as the back of the thighs, buttocks, and arms. Areas where skin laxity is the prominent problem, such as the front of the thighs and abdomen, the response will be more modest and improvement will tend to occur over longer periods of time.
